PLAY an Exhibition by Lateral Stitchers Embroiderers Guild NSW

I am a member of the Laterals Group which is holding its Biennial Exhibition at Gallery 76 Queen Street Concord West, Sydney's only dedicated textile and fibre art gallery, during August 2025, titled Play.

Play is curiosity set in motion—sometimes spontaneous, sometimes carefully shaped, always full of wonder.

This exhibition journeys from the quiet worlds of dolls and improvised games to the wide-open freedom of beaches, trees, and wild spaces.

Yet play is not always carefree. Some works reveal children finding joy amid war, pollution, or hardship—where play itself becomes an act of resilience.

As artists, we also play: experimenting with fabric, thread, and ideas to create works that ask—Where did you play, and where does play live in your life now?
